DFID funded programme consisted of the following components:-

• household gardens
• small livestock distribution
• conservation farming
• provision of maize production inputs and multiplication and distribution of cassava and sweet potato and cassava planting material.

• Low costs and low inputs farming systems,
• microfinance
• Market linkages

The Programme cared for 1 400 chronically ill persons as a continuum care from hospitals

• 300 secondary care facilitators were trained
• Per education was used as a behavior change communication strategy

FCTZ engaged in child protection activities through various interventions such as:-

• Primary health care outreach
• Child protection committees
• Provision of psychosocial support aides and appliances to children living with various forms of disabilities

The WASH component had the following interventions:-

• Installation of elephant pumps
• Rehabilitation of water points
• Construction of multi-compartment latrines
• Participatory health and hygiene education (PHHE)
• Cholera response

The project was done as a pilot project in Makonde district of Mashonaland West targeting 200 non viable households

Programme components:-

• Training of Play Centre Leaders on management and child care
• Play centre management and revival

Improvement of child health and reproductive health including Family Planning services.

• 16 287 children  (7 260 boys and 9027 girls)were vaccinated against child killer diseases

Seventy seven (77) groups comprising 520 individuals trained in internal savings and lending methodology

Community based gender awareness and training of trainers (TOT) workshops were conducted in FCTZ’s four operational provinces.
